Head of the Class Reboot Casts Better Call Saul's Kathie Beth Hall
HBO Max's Head of the Class reboot has cast Better Call Saul alum, Katie Beth Hall, in an important role. The upcoming sitcom is a modern take on ABC's hit '80s comedy series of the same name. In the new show, One Day at a Time actress Isabella Gomez stars as Alicia Adams, a former grades enthusiast, who, in a twist of events, ends up teaching a high school honors class without any real experience. Gomez's Adams is a gender-swapped version of Howard Hesseman's character, Charlie Moore, from the original show. Like Moore, Adams also draws from her experience to convince her students to focus more on living life than on getting grades. Now the show has also cast a new student for Adam's class.
According to Variety, Katie Beth Hall, who played a young Kim in AMC's Better Call Saul, has joined the Head of the Class reboot pilot at HBO Max. Hall will star as Sarah Watson, a budding swimmer with a proactive and competitive personality. Besides Hall, the reboot pilot has also cast Jorge Diaz, Dior Goodjohn, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Brandon Severs, and Christa Miller in major roles. Severs' Terrell will, in fact, be on the school swim team with Hall's Sarah.
The Head of the Class reboot is shaping up to be an exciting project. The show is evidently optioning a diverse set of teenagers for its lead cast. And the aspiring talent that it has brought on board will certainly imbue a fresh life into a classic sitcom. Hall has demonstrated her acting prowess in shows like Happy! and Bull. So now, her fans must really be looking forward to her take on the challenging character in the new show. That said, after these exciting cast additions, HBO Max really needs to give a series order to the reboot pilot.
