Star Wars: Every Member Of The Skywalker Family, Ranked By Likability

The Skywalker family is at the heart of the Star Wars franchise, given that their journeys are a core of the story throughout. However, just because the Skywalker family is the most important part of the franchise, that doesn't mean that all of the characters are overly likable.

In a franchise that is jam-packed with major characters and big personalities, it is no surprise that some of the Skywalker characters can be overlooked. Plus, some of them actually lean towards the dark side, making them hard to actually like. Yet, on the other hand, some of the most popular characters within the movies are part of this family as well.

8 Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

There are very much two sides to the Anakin Skywalker character. The most well-known and important is when he is a villain, as Darth Vader. This is how he's portrayed in the original trilogy, and the character is one of the greatest movie villains of all time, which doesn't make him a likable character, even though he redeems himself before dying.

Then there is the good side, which is Anakin before he becomes Darth Vader in the prequel trilogy. This character is a complex one that has a real range of emotions, but ultimately, some poor dialogue made him hard to like, plus, his constant anger issues weren't exactly a compelling trait either.

7 Shmi Skywalker-Lars

Shmi Skywalker-Lars is shown the least out of the family, only having a supporting role during the prequels, however, there's nothing about her that isn't likable. She is put through a very difficult life, which ultimately leads to her death, a very emotional moment.

However, she still does her best by Anakin to try and get him the a good life, wanting more for her son than she was ever able to provide. That trait is what makes her a likable character, as she is simply just a good mother.

6 Padmé Amidala

Whether she is working as the Queen of Naboo or as a Senator, Padmé Amidala is always trying to do her best for others. She wants a peaceful world where people will come together as one, and get along, and those traits are instantly likable.

Padmé Amidala is someone who gets along with everybody that she interacts with because of her positive attitude and this is why she's a hit with fans. While it was clear that George Lucas was trying to make her seem similar to her daughter, the execution wasn't quite as strong here, which is why she wasn't as likable.

5 Ben Solo/Kylo Ren

While Ben Solo spends a large part of the sequel trilogy on the dark side, as Kylo Ren, that doesn't stop him from being likable overall. Of course, killing his father is something that a lot of people cannot forgive, but it's clear from the very start that he is going through real difficulty with his own emotions, not knowing what to do.

The fact that he eventually chooses the right path makes him likable overall, and his connection with Rey is something that a lot of people really enjoy watching. He's an intriguing character and while he is very serious in comparison to the others, who all tend to have elements of fun, that actually helps make him stand out.

4 Rey Skywalker

Rey might not learn that she is a Skywalker for the majority of her story, but that doesn't change how likable she is. From the start, it is easy to like Rey, taking in BB-8 and trying to help the droid, she is a character with heart, emotion, and ability.

Rey is incredibly independent and she makes that very clear throughout the movies, which is a lot of fun to see, and that does help to drive her character even more. Her strong connections with those around her help cement her place as a likable character.

3 Han Solo

Sure, Han Solo is very arrogant and cocky, and he has no problem in letting everyone know how good he is or how highly he thinks of himself, but that is all part of his charm. Han is one of the most important characters in the franchise, and he is someone that is beloved by fans.

While he's a flirt, Han Solo is very funny and he comes out with some excellent lines during the movies that he's in. He's incredibly helpful to his fellow heroes and he is someone who does truly care about his close friends and loved ones, which makes him a likable person.

2 Leia Organa-Skywalker

Princess Leia just tips her eventual husband, with her character being the personification of a badass. She's always ready to fight her way out of a situation, using her skills and her intelligence, and her sassy attitude and confidence make her an amazing character.

As Leia grows older she becomes wiser and shows more maturity in her actions and thoughts, always having a good word to give to others, which is a likable trait. Her many incarnations truly appeal to fans.

1 Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker has always been one of the most popular Star Wars character overall, which is mainly because the original trilogy is all about him. While there are other important characters, the core story is about Luke, following him as he learns to be a Jedi, as he fights against evil, and as he finds out about his connection to Darth Vader. He is an intriguing character.

But Luke is truly the ultimate good guy, the perfect hero that everyone can cheer for. He's easy to sympathize with as he loses his arm, yet he always fights the odds and tries to help as many people as possible. He's always learning along the way which makes him genuine, and it leads him to be very easy to like.
