Black Ops Cold War's New Patch Introduces Big League Play Changes

Treyarch has introduced a new patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Since the first-person shooter launched in November of last year, Black Ops Cold War has enjoyed success with a very active Call of Duty fanbase. The game continues to go from strength to strength, reserving its status as the best-selling video game in the United States for three consecutive months. This follows the recent confirmation by publisher Activision Blizzard that the Call of Duty franchise has generated over $3 billion last year alone. Black Ops Cold War was developed by Treyarch and published by Activision Blizzard.

The decision to combine Black Ops Cold War and Warzone was initially met with excitement by fans. However, the integration of the two titles has also been met with consternation, especially as fears over the possibility of a pay-to-win scheme continue to come to the surface. New content continues to be added to the game in an effort to continue appealing to an audience that is always eager for new weapons, maps and multiplayer possibilities. A score of new features has been added to the game's Zombies mode, in what is no doubt a major factor in the game's ability to generate such a high profit. The Season One update has certainly played its part as well, delighting players by adding new content to both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

According to Treyarch, players can no longer use the RC-XD in League Play. A major change has arrived to address the prevalence of friendly fire as well; it will now be redirected back at the perpetrator through ricochet damage after the second team kill. It is also worth noting that several changes have been applied to League Play UI to improve the accuracy of viewing results. The patch also adjusted several reported issues in the Zombies game modes. The issue that involved players teleporting out of the map when others interacted with the teleporter in the village has now been fixed. Players can no longer stand on top of the crafting table either.

There is no sign that new content is going to stop rolling out anytime soon either. A free Zombies update launched in early February that included a fresh Zombies map called Firebase Z. The update also features Dead Ops Arcade Solo Advanced Start, a new game mode available exclusively in Zombies. The update also continues the plot following "Die Maschine" and the Dark Aether portal.

Although there have been some inconsistencies since launch, Black Ops Cold War continues to appeal to veteran and new Call of Duty gamers alike. The high volume of content should give fans plenty to enjoy for a long time to come.
