Harry Potter: The Best Harry/Luna Ship Memes | ScreenRant
The Harry Potter series had many canon romances: Ron and Hermione, James and Lily, Harry and Ginny, and more. But as with any series with many characters and a whole lot of potential, fans took to making their own ships, from Hermione and Draco, to Draco and Harry, Hermione and Fred, Lavender and Parvati, Sirius and Remus and Seamus and Dean.
Although it was revealed that Luna Lovegood married Rolf Scamander, many were heartbroken that she didn't end up with Neville Longbottom. And then there were those who shipped Harry and Luna, finding their beautiful gentle chemistry, organic growth, and shared trauma too difficult to ignore.
10 Rowling & Her Puns
Rowling had set up many plotlines in her novels and used many puns in her writing, but there might have been a missed opportunity among them all, as Headcanonsandmore explores in this textpost.
Many of the names revealed something about the characters, like Voldemort fleeing from death, Remus being a werewolf, Sirius being an Animagus whose form is a dog, and Sprout being a Herbology professor. Is it too far a leap to assure Luna Lovegood could have been a reference? The girl whose last name gave some fans hope that Harry would marry her.
9 Ship Names
Fans who ship canon and non-canon relationships love coming up with their names, and Harry and Luna's ship has multiple. There's Lunarry, placing Luna's name first, then there's Huna, placing Harry's name first. And then, as this meme jokes, Larry.
It's so unique compared to the other names that it's a mind-blowing revelation to Harry and Luna shippers.
8 They're Both Seen As Different
Potterddor has highlighted just how special a character like Luna is. She's a person who is accepting of everyone's differences, who doesn't turn to her lower nature when she becomes the object of bullying and cruelty.
She treats Harry as she does everyone else, only Harry treats her kindly in return, giving her something she didn't believe she had - friends. Luna embraces her differences and supports Harry, knowing how he feels.
7 Opposite Yet Alike
Luna and Harry have been through many of the same things, only they appeared in different forms, making them as Pamayapaya sees it, "polar opposites yet also exactly alike." Luna lost her mother at a young age and witnessed her death, while Harry lost his parents as a baby. Luna faced bullying. She was called names and kept away from, judged by people who hardly knew her.
Harry faced people's opinions of him every day. He was called a liar, bullied in muggle school, and whispered about in wizard school. Both are unfortunate in their experiences, but their tragedies helped them grow to be understanding, kind, and strong people.
6 A Less Obvious Canon
Ginny and Harry are endgame, just as Ron and Hermione are endgame. But many fans disliked the final couples; they were too obvious, too unsurprising, just as tokarski35-blog has mentioned.
Because many of the characters were written with depth and interesting characteristics, it allowed for playful chemistry, possibilities outside of what was written. That is the beauty of fleshed-out and unique characters. Anyone could have been with anyone had the author chosen it.
5 Her Consolation
She was there when Harry saw the Thestrals at the start of their fifth year and explained that she saw them too. She was also there at the moment of Sirius's death at the end of their fifth year. Luna's presence was consoling to Harry even though he didn't know it during their conversation. Back at Hogwarts neither Harry nor Luna had gone to the end-of-year feast.
"I'm sorry about your godfather, Harry," Luna said, taking Harry's hand in hers - and there followed a moment of silence. Harry asked again if she needed help looking for her possessions, to which she replied, "That's alright. Anyway, my mum always said...the things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end. If not always in the way we expect." This Tumblr post explains why Luna and Harry are right for each other.
4 Just Too Cute To Ignore
Luna and Harry are both beautiful individuals. Luna is a Ravenclaw who is kind and whimsical, an individual who loves herself and stands up for herself, a creative intellectual. She is a soft, warm soul who is overlooked because of her seemingly naive appearance.
Harry is a Gryffindor, courageous and understanding, funny and persistent, sorrowful and magnificent. It's no wonder fans ship them together. Harry and Luna are both endearing characters, never fully understood by those who surround them yet judged by what can be seen of them. As lovegoodemporium summarizes, "I don't care. I ship it."
3 Harry's Love For Luna
This Tumblr textpost places Harry and Luna in a future where they are happily married and Harry has a smartphone. Harry shows a person a photograph of his wife, asking if they have seen her, not because she's missing, but because he wants to show his wife.
In a way, this textpost is a short fanfiction of Harry and Luna's relationship. In the series, Harry thought Luna was cool and took her to Slughorn's dinner party. In this textpost, Harry still thinks Luna is cool, why wouldn't he?
2 A Prediction
Daniel Radcliff was asked in an interview who he thought Harry would end up with. His response? Luna. Many fans believe this contributed to Harry's behavior toward Luna in the films before the final books were revealed and the films made with Ginny being Harry's love interest.
The-horologist brings this to light, especially as Radcliff's acting helped add chemistry to a ship that unfortunately wasn't meant to be.
1 Nargles
Nargles are creatures Luna and her father believe exist. Luna mentions them on several occasions though many think they aren't real. Pxnsyparkinscn uses this reference to create a sweet and very Luna Lovegood type vow to Harry on their wedding day.
"Protect me from the Nargles, Harry Potter." It can't get any more wonderful, soft, and lovely than that.
