Marvel's Godzilla Destroys The King in Black's Dragons

Marvel's Godzilla, the American Kaiju, just went one-on-one with the King in Black's symbiote dragons and completely destroyed them. In a brand new issue of King in Black: Planet of the Symbiotes, the most patriotic kaiju in history decided to unleash his full fury against the God of Symbiote's minions - it didn't go well for the space dragons.
It was certainly a surprise to see the American Kaiju show up as part of Marvel's King in Black event. Not because he isn't a formidable foe against Knull's forces, he definitely is, but because he's not exactly what you'd call an A-list character... or even a C-lister. American Kaiju first debuted in Avengers #6 (2015) by Al Ewing and Gerardo Sandoval. Originally, Todd Ziller, he takes a complex dose of a super-soldier serum that features elements from Pym Particles, to gamma radiation, and Curt Connors Lizard formula. Ziller becomes a new breed of super-soldier.
In the story "American Kaiju" from King in Black: Planet of the Symbiotes #2 by Marc Bernardin, Kyle Hotz, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Cory Petit, the military unleashes the American Kaiju against the King in Black's dark army. Ziller is a full-blown kaiju, as he's a similar height to Godzilla and just as destructive. The American Kaiju is more than happy to demolish Knull's dragon symbiotes, but after ripping apart a few of the smaller creatures, he gets attacked by a two-headed beast that's the same size as him. The fight is essentially Marvel's version of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.
American Kaiju shows no fear against the two-headed symbiote dragon. He uses his sharp teeth to bite off one of its heads, and then grabs the tip of a pointy building and shoves it down the throat of the other. While he defeats the dragon, Ziller wonders if he's ultimately responsible for destroying libraries, schools, and hospitals, leaving "tens of thousands of lives ruined." He also ponders if America is the culprit since they turned him into the monster to begin with. He realizes turning into a monster is something he wanted and there's no one to blame but himself.
The issue ends with Ziller reverting back into his human form, as he questions whether he's a monster for wanting to be a monster himself. The issue adds a surprising amount of depth to a silly character in a story that easily could have just been - Marvel's Godzilla vs. symbiote dragons. While that's undoubtedly still the coolest part of this showdown, it would be great to see the character's internal struggles revisited in future comics. For now, it was just fun seeing the American Kaiju beat the ever-living snot out of the King in Black's dragons.
