Rocket League Cars Are Basically Flying In New Trick Shot Video
Developer Psyonix recently shared a community highlights video that showcases Rocket League cars soaring through the air with ease; needless to say, it's sight to behold. Rocket League launched on PC and PlayStation 4 during the summer of 2015, yet the title's popularity has yet to wane. Its continued growth is undoubtedly owed in large part to Psyonix's ongoing support.
Said support does not only include small patches and large updates. Most notably, Rocket League went free-to-play in September 2020, and soon thereafter garnered one million concurrent players for the first time in its five-year history. In the several months since then, players have been given plenty of reasons to keep signing back into the high-octane experience. For one, Psyonix and its parent company, Epic Games, often manage to secure interesting licensing deals that ensure new and exciting content is always on the horizon. The creative and active online community keeps Rocket League on the tips of everyone's tongue, too. Community creations such as the Among Us recreation and the Wave Race-inspired map serve as just a couple of the more compelling examples.
Now fans sit at the center of attention once more, courtesy of a "Community Play of the Week" clip shared on the official Rocket League Twitter page. The 20-second clip sees one player go coast-to-coast, moving from one end of the pitch to another before scoring a point for their team. While that's special in and of itself, the true intrigue lies in one car soaring across the screen. After jumping off the side of the cage, the car boosts a couple of times before hitting the ground. In seconds, it's back in the air to seal the deal - no boost needed. Another car briefly comes into view near the end, catching a good bit of air on its own, but the late defensive maneuver is no match for the speeding orange car.
Rocket League players regularly help showcase why the hybrid sports title's popularity has yet to subside. It's simple enough to pick up and play for most, but also features plenty of complexity for dedicated players looking to achieve a higher level of skill.
In terms of new content, Psyonix often releases smaller updates with new cars and tracks. Interestingly, this weekend will mark the start of a limited-time event featuring an F-150 Rocket League Edition bundle. The pack, which players can purchase with in-game currency, will include a special edition truck, boost, decal, and player banner.
Rocket League is available to play now on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
