The King in Black Just Corrupted Half the Fantastic Four
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Fantastic Four #29 from Dan Slott and Zé Carlos
Despite having just dealt with a dangerous world-ending villain known as the Griever, the Fantastic Four barely get any time to rest, as the invasion of the King in Black has just begun in their latest issue from Marvel Comics. All of the heroes of Earth are needed to mount a defense against Knull's legions of dark symbiotes, and the First Family are no exception. However, things are not looking good after the villain's first onslaught. By the issue's end, the Symbiote God has already claimed half of the Fantastic Four's members by bonding them into his horde, and it looks as though he may desire the whole set as his invasion continues.
At the beginning of the King in Black tie-in issue from writer Dan Slott with art by Zé Carlos, Johnny Storm and his new soulmate Sky are trying to bond and spend time with one another, while Reed and his daughter Valeria take stock of the resources they have left after their battle with the Griever and the destruction of their home on Yancy Street. Meanwhile, the powerful Forever Gate accidentally created by Valeria as a portal to all of space and time, has been modified so that only the Fantastic Four can use it, but only sparingly, thus minimizing the potential risks and dangers it poses.
However, that's about all the time they have available to recuperate in Fantastic Four #29, as the sky starts filling up with the dragons of Knull the Symbiote God. While the Fantastic Four joined the Avengers and a plethora of other heroes to fight back, the King in Black's power was just too great. Several heroes were overtaken and bonded with Knull's symbiotes, and this included the Thing. Not only that, while the Human Torch was seen sacrificing himself to save Spider-Man in King in Black #2, this issue confirms that Johnny was corrupted by the symbiotes as well.
Not only were Johnny and Ben corrupted by Knull, but Sky was claimed as well due to her soulmate bond with Johnny. While Sue Storm had been skeptical about her brother's connection to Sky before, there's no way she can refute it now, as Sky was automatically corrupted by Knull before her eyes simply due to Johnny himself having been bonded. While Sue manages to evade the symbiotes and make her way back to Mr. Fantastic on the roof of their home, there doesn't seem to be anything either of them can do in that moment to get their family back from Knull's grasp.
Furthermore, it looks as though Knull wants the whole family under his influence, having Ben Grimm call Reed and Sue over comms, pretending as though he made it out okay and wants to regroup. Unfortunately, it looks as though Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic may have to battle venomized versions of the Thing, Human Torch (and Sky), but hopefully Reed will be able to come up with a solution and free them from Knull's control as Fantastic Four and the King in Black saga continues from Marvel Comics.
