The Last of Us 2 Cosplay So Realistic It Even Surprised Naughty Dog

An amazing cosplayer and photographer duo have recreated a scene from The Last of Us Part 2 that is so realistic it even made developer Naughty Dog do a double take. While there has been no news from the developer about any upcoming multiplayer mode or sequel to its award-winning game, The Last of Us Part 2 still continues to draw in fans and break records for Naughty Dog.

Last year as part of The Last of Us day, Naughty Dog released some new merch to commemorate its acclaimed franchise. This included an official kit to cosplay as Abby Anderson, one of the main playable characters in The Last of Us Part 2. Even with this kit, however, there have been plenty of incredible cosplay homages to all characters within the franchise, including Ellie, Joel, and Tommy. Less commonly recreated though, are clickers, bloaters, runners, and stalkers. The Last of Us’ infected enemies are a nauseating marriage of human and fungus, the result of which are some of gaming's most terrifying and believable foes.

However, recreating a zombie from The Last of Us Part 2 is exactly what cosplayer Gull Sheer and photographer Alon Levin have done. Their efforts were so phenomenal that they caught the eye of Naughty Dog, who shared the impressive art on its social media channels. Eerily and realistically lit, the final result sees the cosplayed clicker running towards a human, who is aiming a gun towards the infected for self-defense, in a grungy and derelict room. The scene is so realistic that Naughty Dog's Twitter account admitted that it had to “do a doubletake to realize that this was a cosplay and not a screenshot.”

One other impressive The Last of Us Part 2 cosplay that received a lot of attention was from Jocelyn Mettler. The VFX artist from Indiana dressed up as Abby Anderson for Hallowe’en in 2020. What made this particular cosplay stand out, though, was that Mettler provided the face model for Abby. Her incredible efforts saw the model recreating some of Abby’s more light-hearted (but still iconic) moments from TLOU2 including lifting weights and eating burritos.

Naughty Dog is currently working on an undisclosed new game. Other than an elusive tweet from ND co-president that stated that the devs are working on something “very cool,” no more news has been revealed as to what this new game could be. For a while many believed that a medieval fantasy title was in the works, after a Naughty Dog concept artist shared some artwork on their personal website, but this turned out to be an homage to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While many have hope that a follow up to The Last of Us Part 2 will be announced soon, patience is a must. After all, it took seven years for Naughty Dog to release a sequel to its first TLOU game.
