Disney+ Loki: 10 Things Fans Want To See In The Upcoming Series
It seemed as if the God of Mischief had bid farewell to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his death at the hands of Thanos, but Loki will see the trickster god take center stage. The TV series is set to feature Loki going on an adventure across time, with this larger-than-life scenario opening up many possibilities.
As expected, fans have their own wishes for the series, from character decisions surrounding the titular charismatic villain to which MCU characters appear onscreen with him to an explanation of some of the franchise's more confusing plot points. Covering these will all but guarantee Loki will be a success.
10 Loki's Trademark Humor
Being funny is one of Loki’s best traits, as he has the talent to get under anyone’s skin through his signature sarcasm and wit.
The Loki series has been promoted to feature Loki at his devious best, with all of the trailers pointing toward the God of Mischief bringing the humor. Due to this, it’s best to deliver exactly what fans are expecting as Loki’s comedy is always worth a watch.
9 Explanation Over How Time Works In The MCU
All of Avengers: Endgame was about time travel as the heroes went back to gather the Infinity Stones. However, it’s still unclear how time travel and alternate universes correlate, and with Loki set to make this its premise, it needs to explain how time travel actually works.
The series will see Loki under the watch of the Time Variance Authority, so everything has been set up in a way that the matter of time travel and the alternate universes has to be detailed and established for the MCU going forward.
8 The Alternate Timeline Thor Interacting With Loki
Without a doubt, the character most want to see in Loki is his brother Thor, the prospect of whose appearance is certainly interesting due to this being an alternate timeline. In this continuity, Thor will still be considering Loki to be a villain, meaning there’s a lot of animosity in their relationship.
With the events of Thor: The Dark World and beyond never having happened, Loki’s interactions with this Thor are impossible to predict since the Loki series is treading uncharted waters. In any case, Thor and Loki have been so synonymous with one another that it would feel incomplete for the series not to feature the God of Thunder.
7 Several "What If?" Scenarios Of Established Events
There has always been speculation over the potential friendships in the MCU if characters would have met. As the time travel backdrop allows for a lot of wiggle room, it can easily accommodate “What If?” scenarios.
Fans would love to see Loki go through events that have already been seen in previous MCU movies, as it would offer a different viewpoint to established continuity. With Loki’s own mischievous twist added to the mix, it would certainly freshen things up to see how he interferes with these events.
6 Loki's Shapeshifting Abilities
Loki’s frequent use of his trickster abilities has become a favorite for meme creators, so the prospect of him taking on new forms sounds like a real game-changer. The comics have shown him to be a proficient shapeshifter, having taken on the forms of male, female, and even animal characters.
It has seemed as if the extent of Loki’s magical powers have been shown, but it would be a big twist to see him display more abilities in this regard.
5 The Full History And Capabilities Of The Tesseract
The Tesseract is the most enduring object in the MCU, having been directly relevant in The Avengers, Captain Marvel, Captain America: The First Avenger, among others. Loki has always been drawn to it, and it’s high time he’s shown unlocking its powers.
While it’s known that the Tesseract contains the Space Stone, the Loki series needs to present something different about it to keep its importance relevant. Fans are expecting a revelation of sorts to do with the object, especially in conjunction with Loki’s use for it.
4 Tie-Ins To The Doctor Strange Sequel
It’s been confirmed that Loki will be connected with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in some way, with the most obvious indication being the multiverse aspect. However, fans won’t be happy with subtle references and continuity nods.
The series should have a direct correlation to the Doctor Strange sequel, such as an appearance by the titular character or Loki visiting Strange in person. Whatever the case, a tie-in to this movie will only bolster Loki’s relevance to Phase Four of the MCU.
3 Loki Crashing Real-Life Events
Loki’s mischievous nature is easy for true fans of the character to understand, who will love to see him interact with events that have actually happened. The Vote Loki story from the comics is already set to take place in the TV series, although similar cases are expected.
The show should place Loki across the timeline of Earth in periods that are well known to the audience. Watching Loki crash moments that are important to history and even alter their course would be a truly sight to see.
2 Loki Having A Genuine Friendship
Despite being active in the MCU for a decade, Loki has never had an actual friend, having only been known for betraying everyone he’s been involved with. Now that he’s the main character, fans would love to see him have a real bond.
It’s become predictable to see him turn on his allies, so it would be a great change from the norm to have Loki forge a friendship that he genuinely cherishes. Since fans don’t know what it’s like to see Loki with a true friend, this new person will have the potential to be the next breakout character.
1 Loki Seeking Closure With His Mother
Loki’s need to prove that he was better than Thor stemmed from his insecurity about being worthy to his father. However, he never had any problems with his mother Frigga, but also didn’t get to have a final moment with her either.
Now that this continuity will be set at a time when Frigga is still alive, the hope is to see Loki visit his mother and have a true heart to heart. More so than the character, it would be closure for viewers, who only saw Loki grieve over Frigga’s loss. Here, they could watch him make amends with her the way Thor did in Avengers: Endgame.
