Minecraft MS Paint Program Turns Paintings Into 3D Sculptures

Minecraft MS Paint program has been made by a player that lets users create 2D art before transforming it into a 3D sculpture of itself, and the reaction from the game's subreddit has been quite positive. Minecraft is the sandbox adventure game that remains one of the most popular titles in the world, with millions of players worldwide and core gameplay designs that make it extremely replayable. The combined qualities of open-world creation and lack of repetition has created a passionate communtiy for the game, too, leading to plenty of player-launched projects that are as engrossing as developer-made content releases.

The last few years have been especially good for Minecraft community members with a penchant for solving mysteries. The iconic Minecraft world seed from the game's original title screen has been found after years of searching, and its discovery also spurred groups on to make several more in the same vein. At the same time, Minecraft speedrunning has had a bigger spotlight on it in recent months thanks to Dream, even if that particular player's achievements were brought into question later. Of course, discussing Minecraft popularity also requires mention of the game's impressive creative and modding communities, which regularly churn out innovative new designs or implementations that shake up gameplay even further.

Creating something new seems to be the driving idea behind user Minecraft_Unofficial's Minecraft MS Paint program, which the player debuted on the game's subreddit earlier today. The program allows players to load paintings into a virtual representation of MS Paint in Minecraft, then convert them into 3D sculptures in the game world. The system also allows for players to paint in it, and the flexibility has impressed community members on the Minecraft subreddit, who are interested in trying out the program themselves.

While the Minecraft MS Paint program looks complicated in theory, Minecraft_Unofficial broke down how it works in the comments on the post, stating that they used "16 structureblocks that place the 2D Painting on the 3D-Printer platform, after that commands are removing the sky, clouds... and they also rescale things like trees and houses." It's a relatively simple set-up for veteran Minecraft players - especially those with creative streaks - but the implementation is smart and innovative, leading to the post's popularity and the increasing demand for a downloadable. Minecraft_Unofficial responded with a "maybe" when asked about a download release, however, so it's unclear if it will be made available.

The Minecraft MS Paint program is a weird addition to the game, but that's been popular recently. It wasn't too long ago that another player debuted playing Minecraft inside of Minecraft simply because they could, and the community has been finding strange but interesting ways to play the title for years now. In that context, creating MS Paint in Minecraft isn't even that odd - though the way it works in-game is arguably much more compelling than the actual MS Paint program itself.
