10 "Several People Are Typing" Memes That Are Too Funny
Discord is the most popular chatting software available at the moment, having replaced Skype and AOL before it. It has a long list of helpful, exciting features, whether used for casual chatting with friends or for intense gaming with an audience.
One of the funniest features is the notification that allows others to know if someone else is typing a response into the chat. After two or three people begin typing at once, it simply changes to 'several people are typing,' and that's usually a pretty good indication that whatever was just posted likely didn't go over well with the other members on the server.
10 Winter Is Coming
Oh, Ned Stark. While his character didn't last long on Game of Thrones, his meme is obviously eternal. Taken from the House Stark motto "Winter Is Coming," this meme perfectly captures the feeling when someone says something baffling in the chat. It's inevitable, and the only way to survive is to power through—and maybe mute notifications.
9 The Quiet Before The Storm
Sometimes, it can be downright hilarious if the people in the chat don't agree with what you're about to say. Saying something so outlandish it can't possibly be ignored can be funny for everyone involved on occasion. It might not feel so good to stumble into that sort of moment accidentally and be made to feel stupid or picked on, but intentionally getting the chat riled up can be a great way to liven up an otherwise quiet chat.
8 From Discord To Tumblr
It's not as though Discord invented saying something provocative or foolish and getting a response to it. This meme shows that, while it might look different, depending on the platform, the basic concept of 'several people are typing' is universal.
In this case, instead of being a private chat with a few friends with immediate rebuttals, the comment in question was open for the public, inviting private messages—possibly from total strangers or people using Tumblr's Anonymous asking feature—of all sorts. It's understandable, though: there's a big difference between the "sell by" date and a "drinkable on" date. Maybe some of the messages were genuinely out of concern, maybe some were amused, maybe some were just horrified; but, either way, tumblr user liquidstar has definitely learned the error of their ways by now.
7 This Is Gonna Hurt
Sometimes, it's not a slip-up or a mistake or a funny comment. Sometimes, a member of a Discord chat will discover there's a way to ping everyone in the chat instantaneously. It's a handy feature for announcements or urgent updates, but, depending on how many people are actually in a server, it can be considered a bit of a faux pax to @ everyone if it's not really necessary.
Still, sometimes people do, and the meme above is exactly what it feels like. Nine characters followed by a mad rush that will almost definitely end with the poster getting buried in responses. Getting buried in responses is probably only slightly better than Mr. Krabs getting buried in Bikini Bottom residents, though.
6 Them's Fightin' Words
If there's one thing some nerds take seriously, it's Minecraft. It can be an artistic expression, a challenge... or, in some cases, a sport... maybe. It's competitive. It allows for team play. Unlike other video games, though, Minecraft isn't exactly included in the e-sports championships.
That's not for lack of trying, though; there are some smaller teams, leagues, and 'tournaments'. The poster here is pretty much correct, though; even if e-sports in general 'count' as 'real' sports, Minecraft just isn't in the same league.
5 Which Is Better?
Everyone has their own particular preferences and opinions about food, that much is certain, but, every so often, there will be an opinion so wildly different than the commonly accepted idea that it just makes several people start typing all at once.
Such is the case here, where someone tried to argue—unsuccessfully, probably—that Tootsiepops are better than regular lollipops without the Tootsieroll center. Sometimes, it's the little things that get people the most upset.
4 Apostrophes For Days
Loosely translated: You all would have if I would have. This is a prime example of how the word y'all, once purely a southern linguistical tick, has become more and more popular. This may partially be due to an increased effort at gender-neutral language—after all, 'y'all', when compared to 'you guys' or 'ladies and gentlemen' doesn't have the same connotation and is more inclusive.
The same argument seen against 'chatspeak' could be made here in that so many contractions make it less than a word and more of a monster. But, hey, as long as the person speaking is understood...
3 Challenge Everything
EA used to be a fairly respectable video game publisher; they are responsible for many '90s and early 00s first-video-game memories, and they are still pumping out content for The Sims something like 20 years after the original game came out. But, to say that they're the best game developer out there is more than a little bit of a stretch.
With so many incredible games being produced nowadays, from giant gaming companies to independent creators, EA isn't exactly on the cutting edge anymore. Between always finding new ways to charge customers for new content—how many expansion packs can there be?—and glitchy gameplay and flat-out unfinished games, there are a lot of ways EA just can't keep up. The publisher will always have a special place in most gamer's hearts, but, as time goes on, the good that EA once did will slowly fade from memory.
2 Asking The Real Questions
The thing that prompts several people to type is not always just a notification, and it's not always a comment or an opinion. It can be a question; something of the existential variety that makes heads hurt and realities be questioned.
Frankly, how dare they. It must be said, though, that a straw definitely has two holes: one at the top and one at the bottom. If straws only had one hole, it wouldn't be a straw, it would be a very thin, essentially useless cup of some kind.
1 The Ultimate
An innocuous question that should only have one answer apparently has two. Soy milk, almond milk, and most other milk substitutes are at least still milk of some kind or another, which makes it acceptable to pour on cereal. Is this person okay? Probably not. Hopefully they have been corrected and are living their life in the light, where milk—and nothing else—is poured on milk.
