How Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Can Feature Obi-Wan Show Characters

EA's Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order was a game that largely stood on its own within the Star Wars universe, while still making plenty of connections to Star Wars lore. With a sequel game in development, fans have begun theorizing what new connections might be made in the second game. So the announcement that an Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show is entering production has added plenty of speculation about who could show up Jedi Fallen Order 2.

[Spoilers for Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order]

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is set in the years between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope. It centers on Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan in hiding after Order 66 wiped out most of the Jedi. Although the story largely relied on new characters, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order went to many fan favorite Star Wars locations, including the planet of Dathomir. It ended with an impressive cameo that showed that Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order wasn't staying completely away from main franchise characters, even if they were only going to be used sparingly.

The new Obi-Wan Kenobi series will take place ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. That puts it relatively close in time to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, which took place roughly five years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. A sequel game could include a time jump which would put it even closer to when the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show will be set, making it easy for characters to overlap between the two projects. Given that the TV show is likely to release before Jedi Fallen Order 2 simply due to production timetables, it's possible audiences will be introduced to characters in Obi-Wan Kenobi that, chronologically, Cal will have met a few years earlier, even though audiences won't see that meeting until later.

And of course, the big question is, could Obi-Wan himself show up in Jedi Fallen Order 2? Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order ended on the very open-ended line, "Where to now?," allowing the sequel to go almost anywhere it wants to with its story. One possible storyline could find Cal and his mentor Cere Junda seeking out other hidden Jedi, leading them to find Obi-Wan. There's precedent for a high-profile character (and their original actor) to appear in the franchise. While Darth Vader is the obvious cameo to reference, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order also included a few scenes with Saw Gerrera, with actor Forest Whitaker lending his voice and likeness to the character he originally portrayed in Star Wars: Rogue One.

Of course, Jedi Fallen Order 2 could avoid the main Skywalker saga completely, sending Cal off to a different part of the galaxy. But the Star Wars franchise is well-known for constantly finding ways to tie its storylines together. Cal's storyline is currently still several years out from Star Wars: A New Hope, but there are plenty of Star Wars characters that could appear in Jedi Fallen Order 2. And with Disney announcing actors who will be in the new Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series, but not their characters, it's possible the internet has already been introduced to a character who will appear in the next Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order game without realizing it.
