The Voice: Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson & More React To Ariana Grande Casting
Coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Nick Jonas have taken to social media to welcome Ariana Grande to the cast of The Voice season 21. As it has been a tradition for many years now, the rotation of coaches on The Voice will be happening once again. On season 19, Gwen Stefani joined co-stars Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend on the show. Then, Gwen was replaced by Nick Jonas on season 20, who had only been a The Voice coach once in the past. Alas, some fans wondered if Nick would stick around for season 21 as well.
This week, NBC announced that Ariana Grande will be a coach on The Voice season 21, replacing Nick Jonas. Ariana is no stranger to television given that she first gained notoriety as an actress on Nickelodeon's Victorious and Sam & Cat. On the other hand, this will be Ari's first-ever reality TV stint. Considering that she's a famously private superstar, it is surprising that Ariana agreed to star as a coach/judge in a reality competition. With that said, The Voice always provides its headlining stars with a great platform, which is great for a musician hoping to reach an even wider audience.
On the heels of this official announcement, the four current The Voice coaches shared messages on social media to welcome Ariana Grande to the show. As seen in the tweets below, Kelly Clarkson wrote: "Next season we are bringing y'all some powerful female energy!" Blake Shelton shared a message on Twitter welcoming Ari to "the fam," and John Legend also remarked that he is "so excited to welcome Ariana to our Voice family." Even Nick Jonas, who is being replaced by Ariana Grande on season 21, shared a sweet message on social media. He wrote, "You're going to kill it next season! Welcome to the family."
It appears that it's not just the fans who are excited about Ariana Grande joining The Voice as a coach, as her fellow co-stars are clearly also looking forward to it. With such a powerful vocal range and a long list of hit songs in her career, Ariana seems like the perfect choice to occupy the fourth red chair on The Voice season 21. The contestants will certainly benefit from having her as a coach, and she is likely excited to share her expertise with other aspiring singers.
We are still in the middle of The Voice season 20, but NBC is already looking further to season 21. Now that the show has figured out how to film new seasons under COVID-19 safety regulations, the usual airing of two The Voice cycles per year can be preserved.
The Voice season 20 airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC.
