Apple Reports Big Quarterly Results With All-Time Record Revenue

Apple just posted $111.4 billion in revenue for the last quarter, marking an all-time record for the company, and the first time the iPhone-maker has generated more than $100 billion in revenue during a single quarter. The results not only indicate how well Apple as a whole continues to do, but also highly suggests the latest iPhone 12 series is proving to be a major hit with consumers.
Apple unveiled and released the iPhone 12 series in the fourth calendar quarter of 2020. Due to this, firm indications on how the smartphone was selling had yet to come through. However, the iPhone 12 series was billed as a major release for the company with it marking the first time an iPhone model was available with 5G. This meant the market would be taking an even closer look at the latest quarterly results.
The iPhone-maker has now confirmed all-time record revenue of $111.4 billion for the three-month period leading up to December 26, 2020. $95 billion of that came from product sales while the remaining $15 billion came from services. Looking closer at the sales by category and iPhone alone generated more than $65 billion, Mac more than $8 billion, iPad more than $8 billion, and the company’s ‘Wearables, Home and Accessories’ category made more than $12 billion. All of which are up on the same three-month period for the year before, highlighting Apple did well across all product categories. While the data relates to the fourth calendar quarter of 2020, Apple reports the October through December period as its 2021 fiscal first quarter.

2020 was a difficult year for everyone and this also included tech companies as well. While that’s less evident in the numbers now provided by Apple, the company has had to deal with multiple difficulties during the year, including factories and stores shutting down to comply with lockdown orders. In fact, these issues, coupled with the general 2020 trend of virtual product announcements, resulted in Apple making multiple product announcements in the closing months of the year. This also resulted in the spreading out of the release dates for the different iPhone 12 series models.
In spite of all of this, Apple has now not only reported a massive quarter, but the best quarter in revenue it has ever experienced. That alone suggests the final three months of 2020, which included the busy holidays sales period, proved highly beneficial to the company. While there’s still no firm numbers released for specific models, the iPhone 12 series, along with the other new products Apple made available in the fourth quarter, are very likely to be proving majorly popular with consumers.
