The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Development Update From Nintendo Hints At Future Info

The latest Nintendo Direct brought a sliver of hope for The Legend of Zelda series fans, as the producer of the franchise has revealed that news about the sequel to Breath of the Wild is coming in 2021. The sequel to Breath of the Wild (hereafter referred to as Breath of the Wild 2) was announced during the 2019 E3 Expo.

The trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 showed Link and Zelda exploring a mysterious cavern and encountering an undead being, who was being held in place by a hand made of light. Link seemingly removes the hand, freeing the creature from its grasp. Hyrule Castle is then shown floating into the sky. We still know nothing about Breath of the Wild 2, except for what was shown in that original trailer. Gamers don't know when it takes place, what the gameplay will be like, and they aren't even sure what it's going to be called. There have been a ton of fake leaks, but no one has provided any concrete information about the game.

The recent Nintendo Direct featured the announcement of Skyward Sword HD, but Breath of the Wild 2 fans will need to wait a little longer for more information. The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma appeared during the Direct and said that there wasn't any new information about Breath of the Wild 2 during the Direct, but that more information will be revealed this year. The Nintendo Direct can be watched in full on the official Nintendo YouTube channel.

Aonuma didn't provide a time frame, but it's unlikely that there will be more about the game on the upcoming anniversary of the series, as that's only a week away. It's possible that there might still be something about a Legend of Zelda 3D All-Stars collection, or an HD remaster of Phantom Hourglass, but Breath of the Wild 2 information is probably being saved for later in the year.

It's sad that fans didn't learn more about Breath of the Wild 2, but at least there is confirmation that we'll know something by the end of the year. The Legend of Zelda fans lasted a whole twelve months without any updates about the game, so they can stand to wait a little longer, especially as Skyward Sword HD is coming in the summer to fill the void. It's possible that there will be more about the game during the digital E3 event in June.
