Truth Seekers Cancelled After One Season | Screen Rant

Truth Seekers has been canceled after one season. The British horror comedy starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, who also created the show alongside writers Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz (Sick Note), premiered on Amazon Prime on October 30, 2020. The story revolves around Gus (Frost), a wireless service repairman (Pegg plays Dave, his boss) who investigates the paranormal via his YouTube channel as a side gig. Truth Seekers co-stars Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Samson Kayo (Dolittle), and Emma D’Arcy (Hanna).

After the first 8 episode inaugural season for Truth Seekers, Deadline reports that Amazon Prime pulled the plug on the series. Frost made the announcement to fans on his Instagram account stating the series was canceled and thanking fans who like the horror-comedy. His full comments are below:

“Sadly, Truth Seekers will not be returning for a second season. Truth Seekers has not been renewed, which is a massive kick in the willy for me. We really put our all into this – our heart and soul, and blood in some cases, so to not come back is really sad for us. It’s a shame. I think we had lots of lovely ghost stories to tell – stories that will remain now untold. If you liked the show, thank you. And if you didn’t, are you happy now? Happy now?”

The first trailer for Truth Seekers debuted tp tremendous buzz, which reunited Pegg and Frost. The two first collaborated on the British TV series Spaced back in 1999 before garnering cult status and fame with modern classic films like 2004’s Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz in 2007, and The World’s End in 2013.

Truth Seekers was oddly reminiscent of Ghostfacers, the 2010 web-series spinoff to the long-running CW staple, Supernatural. Both involved “everyman” type characters running YouTube sites chasing the paranormal, only to find themselves in over their heads once catching it. The online shorts only lasted one season, just like Truth Seekers, which is unfortunate as horror and comedy (just like Frost and Pegg) always make for a natural and welcome pairing.
