The large selection of games that Tabletop Simulator offers means that players can go everywhere from the Wild West to wizarding school and do everything from leading Vikings into battle to running a pirate ship all in one night of gaming. These sometimes bizarre, always fun themes are all at the virtual fingertips of Tabletop Simulator players.

10 Wizard's Academy

This 1-6 player co-op game has players taking control of student wizards as magical incident after magical incident pile up with the school's faculty missing. The wizards must work together, using their spells to solve all of the problems before they get out of hand.

While the theme of a wizard school isn't quite unique to Wizard's Academy, what sets this game apart is that it embraces the fact that it centers on novice sorcerers by making it so the player doesn't know what their spells do until they use them. The game, then, features fun experimental gameplay as well as a thematic experience of facing difficult odds with little knowledge but lots of ingenuity.

9 Indonesia

Indonesia is a heavy economic game for 2-5 players that simulates building up economic systems on the archipelago of Indonesia. Players will control both production and shipping companies, requiring attention to detail and a delicate balance between the costs and profits of every side of their business.

With its complex systems involving fluctuating demand as cities grow and the ability to research new developments to get one's business ahead of opponents', Indonesia may not be for players new to the board game scene. For seasoned veterans looking for a new deep economic system to get lost in, though, or even for those looking to dip their toe into the deep end of board games, Indonesia might be the way to go.

8 The Great Dinosaur Rush

Despite its fun-loving exterior, the 2-5 player game The Great Dinosaur Rush has plenty of room for professional rivalries that enter into nasty territory, as players compete to dig up bones and put finished skeletons in the best museums in the world, at any cost. On their turns, players will dig up bones and assemble skeletons in order to accumulate prestige.

However, players will also acquire notoriety for sabotaging other players' digs and builds. Putting a nice thematic bow on the top of this unique gameplay is the fact that the player with the most notoriety at the end of the game suffers a penalty, forcing players to seek a careful balance between constructive and destructive actions on their path to paleontological fame.

7 Blood Rage

Filled to the brim with Viking battles, Blood Rage seems like a good old-fashioned clash of warriors at first glance, but in reality, it is filled with thematic depth related to Norse mythology and Viking culture. This 2-4 player game has players controlling Viking clans on the verge of Ragnarok as they pillage, fight, and die gloriously on the path to Valhalla.

Every round, players will draft a new hand of cards, representing boons from the Norse gods, and assisting the Vikings in their final days, before they begin maneuvering around the battlefield, pillaging villages and battling other players who get in their way. Players have to carefully decide which sources of glory to tap into, as even dying a valorous death can net warriors a spot in Valhalla and bring glory to their clan.

6 Euphoria: Build A Better Dystopia

In this 2-6 player dice placement game, players take control of a dystopian society rising out of the ashes of a post-apocalyptic world by controlling teams of workers and recruits to run their dystopia. However, Euphoria: Build A Better Dystopia is unique in that it asks players to keep track of their workers' knowledge of the world around them, as workers that are too aware they are in a dystopia may revolt.

The dastardly task of building a dystopian society is wonderfully wicked, allowing players to briefly live the villainous side of the dystopian genre. Players will have to keep a close eye on outside communities, manage shifting markets, and locate pre-apocalyptic artifacts if they want to come out as the most prosperous dystopia in the land.

5 Cavern Tavern

Bustling taverns are a common setting in fantasy fiction, but rarely does that fiction focus on the day-to-day work of the tavern itself. In the dice placement game Cavern Tavern, 1-6 players can experience the chaotic hustle-bustle of filling adventurers' orders, keeping the place clean, and, of course, sucking up to the boss in a fantasy tavern filled with activity.

Interestingly, Cavern Tavern is a competitive game, so while players may be on the same staff, they are actually trying to get the best reputation with the customers and the boss, Nasty the Dwarf. This is easier said than done, as the game simulates the need to balance time and resources in food service, but with a magical flair.

4 Wingspan

With its unique theme of bird watching, Wingspan is a much-lauded 1-5 player game that's definitely worth looking at for a night of virtual board gaming. In this game, players take on the roles of bird enthusiasts looking to attract rare birds to their habitats through careful card play.

When a player brings a new bird into their preserve, they will add a new opportunity to create chain reactions that will help them gather food, collect eggs, and discover more new birds. With beautiful art inspired by bird-watching guides and a competitive spirit without cutthroat gameplay, Wingspan is the perfect experience for gamers seeking serenity.

3 Tiny Epic Western

The Tiny Epic series condenses big gameplay ideas and themes into bite-sized packages, and perhaps its most unique entry on Tabletop Simulator is the 1-4 player worker placement game Tiny Epic Western. In this game, players are thrust into the Wild West, where they must plot out the best plays to take control of a small town.

In keeping with the Wild West theme, Tiny Epic Western utilizes poker in its gameplay. This plus the game's squabbles for control of various buildings and gunfighting action make Tiny Epic Western a perfect simulation of the chaos and opportunity of the Wild West and its enduring movie depictions.

2 Tortuga 1667

This creative party game casts its 2-9 players as a pirate crew who must work together to stay alive on the high seas and take down enemy ships. However, distrust is abound on this ship, and everybody is trying to end up with the most gold, meaning players will have to carefully decide who among their crew they can trust.

The pirate theming is deep here, with players being assigned secret allegiances to the British, French, or Dutch, as well as having roles based on where they fall in the ship's pecking order. All of that can change in an instant, though, as well-planned mutinies can displace the captain, and random events can change the course of the game very quickly. So, every pirate has to stay on their toes and constantly be deciding where to place their trust.

1 Viticulture

This 1-6 player worker placement game takes place in the unlikely world of winemaking, where players attempt to transform their inherited Tuscan vineyard into a thriving winery. With this serene theme on an exciting game, Viticulture offers an experience that will make any player feel like an experienced winemaker.

Using a unique seasons system, the game has players carefully managing their workers in order to perform both summer and winter actions needed to keep their business successful. Every turn, players will manage planting vines, harvesting grapes, hosting visitors, and aging wines through a series of unique systems that create a complex-yet-accessible experience that simulates winemaking in a competitive atmosphere.
