The Masked Singer: Who Is Robopine? The Gameshow Host Really Is 60+

One of the most puzzling performances this week on The Masked Singer was that of its most prickly contestant yet. He first announced to viewers, and even new host Niecy Nash, who had been calling him Porcupine, that his name is, in fact, Robopine. He then added to the confusion when he claimed to be over 60 years old. He went further by mentioning not only his kids, but also his grandkids. Based on his smooth singing, the panelists immediately questioned this statement and even went so far as to suggest that it was an intentionally false clue. While no fake clues have ever been given on the show, the panel thought this might be the first, and choose to disregard it completely in their predictions.

Another big clue that could be deceiving is Robopine's massive size. While the panel commented on how huge he was, it turns out it's much harder with new host Niecy to determine the height of contestants. Nick Cannon is 6'1", which was a good marker to judge the height of the contestants. Niecy, on the other hand, is only 5'4" and her pants hid the size of her heels, so it was hard to get a solid read on anyone's height. That is, except for Robopine. Even if Niecy had heels several inches tall, he still was significantly larger, making him at least 6 feet tall. This factor rules out many of the panel's guesses, even if you ignore the over-60 age clue. The ever-popular guess of Jamie Foxx definitely wouldn't fit, as he is only 5'9".

We do think Robopine may have been a little misleading, but only in that his silky voice implied a singing career. We think he is actually not known for singing at all, but we are pretty sure this giant prickly rodent was telling the truth about being over 60 and having grandkids. We think Robopine is game show host and comedian Steve Harvey. The size and build fit, but so do the moves. Anyone who has seen him on Family Feud knows he can't help but show off his moves regularly. Plus, Harvey can sing. While he isn't a professional singer, he did play one on TV. Harvey played Steve Hightower on The Steve Harvey Show. His character was a music legend turned high school music teacher.

Another clue in Robopine's clue package was a statue of Washington. This also points to the show. Hightower was the vice principal and music teacher at Booker T. Washington High School in Chicago. Robopine also spoke of having to fend for himself and develop thick quills as a child. Harvey lived on a farm in Ohio with 13 family members in a one-bathroom house. The family lived on a small income and grew their own food. This definitely lines up. Even the costume itself could be a clue, as one of the most famous viral clips from Family Feud includes a contestant asked to fill in pork ___. Instead of saying "chop" to make pork chop or something similar, the contestants said "upine." Steve asked what is a upine, and the guest said "pork-upine."

The most telling clue came when Robopine talked about how his career started when he was desperate and got a random call from an angel that changed his life. Steve Harvey has told the story of being broke and homeless, with $25 to his name when he got the random call to go on stage at The Apollo. This call and the story around it are something he tells often. While we really hope his seven children and five grandchildren were joking when they suggested the 64 year old call it quits, his age and the fact that he is a grandfather are the ultimate clue fits for Robopine. Harvey also fits the level of stars we've been seeing on the show. Tune in to see if we get any game show host, comedian, or Chicago clues next.
