Mountain Dew Body Pillow Is a Gamer Dream (& Nightmare) Come True

Seeing a gamer with a bottle of Mountain Dew by their side is not an uncommon picture, as the drink has become inextricably linked to gaming culture and is known as the drink of choice for a good, long gaming session. The high sugar content in the drink is probably to blame for this as snacking and soft drinks fuel players as they puzzle or punch their way through games. Mountain Dew has taken their relationship with gamers to a whole new level now with the release of a Mountain Dew body pillow, so even in sleep people can still keep a firm hold on the drink that keeps them going.

This is not the first big marketing campaign that Mountain Dew has charged into the media with. Knowing that its target market is the gaming community, Mountain Dew recently launched an e-shop to sell Gamer Fuel, a brand of Mountain Dew specifically aimed at gamers. With Dr. Disrespect- themed cans available through the website, Mountain Dew is really playing to their demographic, and it included a Victory Pass reward system; four words that will turn most gamer's heads. If gamers chose to opt in to this reward system, buying cases of Gamer Fuel gave them a chance of winning rewards like double XP tokens in the new Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. However, the ultimate Victory Pass prize was a PS5 console with a copy of Black Ops Cold War to get the winner started.

Game Informer found the Mountain Dew body pillow listing, and assures readers that it is an officially licensed design that looks exactly like the real thing, label and all. Found on Best Products, it is described as being 4.5 feet long and 1.6 feet wide, so it's a body pillow big enough to smother buyers in an inviting cuddle. An official press release describes the body pillow as being "perfect for those cold, winter nights when all you need is the comfort of your MTN DEW to give you those warm, fuzzy feelings." The whole thing is made of polyester with a polyester filling for a soft but firm partner to snuggle with. They will only be available to buy in March, most likely, from the online DEW store.

Mountain Dew may be synonymous with gaming, but other companies have also tried their luck catering to gamers. Near the end of last year, Burger King partnered with Sony to give away free PS5 consoles to customers who bought, shocker, burgers. Some games have also tried marketing using snacks and drinks. Halo Infinite has spread its name over a variety of snacks, but is most enthusiastic about its tie with Monster Energy, who is printing cans with series protagonist Master Chief on them, and is offering rewards for the game when it finally comes out.

The gaming community does seem to like its snacks, and when people imagine a stereotypical gamer most will see a Mountain Dew somewhere nearby. Although not all gamers drink Mountain Dew, there is a reason for the association as it is a lot of gamers' drink of choice for a gaming binge. Releasing a Mountain Dew body pillow seems like a bit much, but it wouldn't be surprising if a lot of gamers find themselves spooning their trusty sidekick, the green bottle of sugar.
