Stardew Valley 1.5 Update On Switch, PS4 & Xbox Takes Biggest Step Yet
Console players of Stardew Valley will soon see the game's massive 1.5 update on the horizon, as the update has officially been submitted for certification for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. While there's no definitive release date as of yet, it's the biggest step that the update has made so far, signaling that the release isn't far away.
Stardew Valley, the work of lone developer ConcernedApe as a personal project spanning four years, was originally released for PC in 2016 to huge player interest and critical acclaim. The popularity and success of the game eventually resulted in mobile and console ports, but because ConcernedApe works alone or occasionally with minimal outside help, substantial updates are few and far between. Recent update 1.5 was the largest Stardew Valley update thus far, adding scores of new content to the game that range from quests and items to a new island with new NPCs. It was released for the native PC version back in December, with ConcernedApe predicting that the console update would be following within a few weeks.
Today, ConcernedApe finally provided the news on Twitter that console players have been waiting on for just over a month, announcing that the console update has officially been submitted for certification. The dev shared the first major update concerning the console version of 1.5 since its December release, verifying that the update has been completed and will be releasing soon, with "late this month or early next month" being a likely release timeframe.
While the news isn't a concrete release date, which is likely what console players are hoping for, ConcernedApe's confirmation that the update will still likely be available on console as early as January's endy is reassuring. Considering that the developer has had his hands full dealing with the PC update's bugs and glitches, it's pleasantly surprising that the console update is still right on schedule.
Console players can console themselves that their beach farming days are on the horizon, as - even without the 1.5 update - Stardew Valley still has plenty for them to occupy their time with. They can take the remaining time before the console release to learn how to get the most of what the next update has to offer, courtesy of PC gamers who got there first.
