Sebastian Stan Trends On Twitter After Posting Photo Of His Butt
Sebastian Stan posts a photo of his butt as a way to promote his upcoming movie, Monday – shortly after, the actor started trending on Twitter as fans reacted with memes of the picture. Monday promises to be a steamy and dramatic movie, following the love story between Mickey (Stan) and Chloe (Denise Gough). The two meet in Athens and have a one night stand, which complicates the lives that they are supposed to return to. The movie is directed by Argyris Papadimitropoulos and will release in theaters this Friday.
Monday's release is coming at a highpoint in Stan's career. Although Stan has played Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011, he has become increasingly more popular ever since he moved from supporting role to main character in Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The new series has allowed fans a closer look into the trauma and transformation that Bucky is going through as he separates himself from his old life as HYDRA's assassin. On top of his character becoming more popular, Stan himself has started to appear in more press junkets, speak in more interviews, and post more on Instagram.
On Monday, Stan turned to Instagram again to promote Monday's release and possibly tease a scene in the movie. Stan posted a photo where he's facing away from the camera in the middle of the street, appearing naked save for a jacket that he is holding open for all to see. With everything up front facing the other way, most of his back side is completely exposed, which explains Stans cheeky caption: "MONDAY, the movie. Out this Friday, April 16. When I say we gave it our “all”, we literally did." Unsurprisingly, the internet has reacted quickly to Stan's post, which lead to Stan's name trending on Twitter as everyone shared their memes in response. See Stan's Instagram post and some reactions below:
While the post is a promotional bit for Monday, the photo has led many to bringing up the running joke in the MCU regarding who has "America's ass." The joke stems from Avengers: Endgame when Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) said Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) has "America's ass." Now, the reference has transformed into an inside joke for the cast members. It comes up often in interviews, and even Stan ended up admitting that he thought Falcon (Anthony Mackie) truly has "America's ass."
Although the post has brought about MCU memes, the photo is still meant to tease Monday. It appears that the spontaneous love story that drives the movie will include a string of spontaneous acts from the lovebirds, such as flashing an entire street. Given the humor and emotion that is promised in this movie, hopefully Monday will offer fans a new peek into Stan's versatile acting abilities. Monday will release in theaters on April 16.
