Marvel's Heroes Reborn Gets New Trailer Showcasing Remixed Heroes
With little over a month to go before Heroes Reborn launches, Marvel has released a new trailer for the event spotlighting remixes of some of their most iconic characters.
Heroes Reborn is an upcoming event from Marvel Comics, written by Jason Aaron with art by Ed McGuiness, that will be told in a regular mini-series as well as through a series of one-shots. Spinning out of Aaron’s current run on The Avengers, the series looks at a world without the Avengers - a world where Captain America remained frozen in ice and Tony Stark never built the Iron Man armor. In the absence of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Squadron Supreme are the planet’s premier superhero team. In this bold new reality, the Squadron finds themselves pitted against some truly wild new takes on iconic Marvel villains, and the Squadron's hero allies are just as surprising. This new trailer spotlights many of them.
The trailer opens with a look at some of these characters, many of which have already been revealed. Among them are the Silver Witch, a Quiksilver/Scarlet Witch mashup; and the Black Skull, who combines the worst of Venom and the Red Skull. The trailer also spotlights some of the friendlier faces, such as Police Commissioner Luke Cage and the Black Panther wearing the Ronin outfit. The Young Squadron, a team of young heroes who emulate the Squadron Supreme are showcased, as is Weapon X and Final Flight, the last survivors of a mutant massacre. The trailer then shifts gears, showing the Squadron in action, as well as teasing a climactic battle with the Avengers.
Marvel has still not released much information on the event, namely what triggers the creation of this new reality. It is worth mentioning that the current incarnation of the Squadron was created by Mephisto to help Agent Coulson strike back at the Avengers, and Marvel has also dropped hints he will be playing a major role in their universe this year. So is he behind the Avengers’ disappearance? Marvel has revealed that Blade is the only hero to remember the world the way it was before - why Blade though? And how will he be able to help restore the universe to the way it was?
The Avengers are integral to the Marvel Universe, and now the publisher is about to show readers a world without them in Heroes Reborn and this new trailer gives fans one of their best looks at it yet. Heroes Reborn and its various tie-in one-shots will be available in print and digital starting this May.
