90 Day Fiance: Stars Who Blew the Most Money On Ex-Partners While On Show
Some 90 Day Fiancé stars have been known to spend money in the name of love. However, TLC fans wonder who the worst offender is. There are plenty of candidates for biggest spender, including Jorge Nava and David Murphey. However, it isn't just the men who open their wallets.
90 Day Fiancé is an American reality television series on TLC that has taken the world by storm. Cameras follow couples who have applied for the K-1 visa as they wind their way towards their wedding days. Each couple must say "I do" before the 90-day time frame is up. The drama is unparallel as true personalities emerge. Sometimes, couples call it quits.
Nicole Nafziger happily spent thousands of dollars in the hopes of keeping Azan Tefou keen on her. Even though he was caught cheating (there was audio evidence), she still decided that their "highs and lows" love story was a great one. She was often ripped apart by TLC viewers for sending him money while she had a little girl in Florida to raise and was working minimum wage jobs. Fans were not shocked to learn that she had given Azan $6,000 so they could open up a boutique in Morocco which didn't really exist.
David Murphey basically made up a relationship with Lana, whom he had spoken to for over seven years. He blew half his life savings talking to her on a dating website that charged him by the minute. In the end, he lost $100,000. Lana never wanted to leave the site since she was meeting other men there and earning a cut from David. During his time on the show, cameras followed him as he stalked Lana, arriving at an address he had sent flowers to multiple times, where she didn't actually live.
Murphey also wasted money on traveling to Ukraine four times, as she failed to meet with him each time, always claiming a family emergency had come up. David admitted on the show that he had blown a lot of money due to his hopes that he could build a life with Lana. However, he insists to this day that he was never catfished. He says Lana really did love him.
Fans never questioned a couple’s intentions more than Jorge and Anfisa. The self-proclaimed gold digger Anfisa was livid when she arrived in the United States and found out that Jorge, who later went to prison, was not made of money as he had claimed. Their relationship became volatile, but the Californian still bought her purses and gifts to keep her calm. Even after she keyed his car and slapped him in the face, he admitted to having spent at least $75,000 on her.
Without these sad cases, the franchise would not be as popular as it is today. The idea that some are so lonely they are willing to rack up debt to find love amazes viewers. Hopefully, at some point, these reality stars will learn that you can’t buy love. Some may already have learned that lesson.
90 Day Fiancé airs on Sunday at 8 pm EST on TLC
