Who Is Robopine On Masked Singer? Celeb Identity & Clues Explained

Robopine surprised fans not only with his name, previously thought to be Porcupine, on The Masked Singer season 5, but also with his performance and even some of his clues. His height had many expecting an athlete, but his smooth voice had them questioning if he was actually a singer. The biggest surprise, however, came when he was telling a story of how his kids and grandkids thought that, at 60, he'd passed the age where he should be performing.

After his performance of "Never Too Much" by Luther Vandross, the judges were so convinced he couldn't possibly be over 60 with his voice and moves, which seemed too youthful to belong to someone who has grandkids, that they chose to ignore the clue and guess people well under 60. Panelist guesses included actors Idris Elba and Donald Glover, and singer Ginuwine. Nicole Scherzinger was willing to pay a fine to guess Jamie Foxx, and the only guess of a celebrity over 60 was singer Lionel Richie.

We are convinced Robopine is game show host and comedian Steve Harvey. Harvey fits the size and build of the singing porcupine and he is, in fact, over 60 with grandkids. Porcupine's moves seemed to fit with the dance moves Harvey regularly breaks out during his hosting job on Family Feud. Harvey might never have been a professional singer, but he once played one on TV. His show, The Steve Harvey Show, cast him as a high school music teacher who was a former music legend. He has occasionally broken into song during his hosting and stand-up gigs, and it's clear he knows how to sing.

Cluedle-Doo's clue for fans was that Porcupine is skilled at not becoming roadkill. Robopine said fans didn't have to be scared with him, despite his prickly exterior. He talked about having to fend for himself as a young porcupine. He said he decided to go on a mission with the goal of getting on Hollywood's radar. Visual clues included a George Washington statue, as well as a strand of DNA. He talked about a call with an angel that changed everything for him. One of the more surprising clues was that Robopine claimed to be over 60 years old. He told the panel that, a long time ago, his kids and grandkids told him to hang it up because of his age.

The statue of Washington fits with his character, Steve Hightower, who worked at Booker T. Washington High School in Chicago. Robopine's tough childhood fits with Harvey's own past in Ohio, where he lived on a farm. All 13 family members lived in a one-bathroom house. Their small income required them to grow their own food.  The choice of the porcupine costume even points to Harvey.  The most famous viral clip from Family Feud includes a contestant asked to fill in pork ___.  He chose to fill in the blank with the word "upine," as in "pork-upine."

The biggest clue, as with other stars this season, came in the form of his personal story. Robopine talked about being desperate and a call from an angel changing his life. Harvey has many times recounted his fortuitous call to perform at the Apollo. He was homeless and broke with only $25 dollars to his name when he got that call. This sounds a whole lot like Robopine's clue. With the level of stars we've been seeing, Steve Harvey would fit right in on season five.
